Nobel Peace Prize winner dedicates award to Trump

Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, this year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner, dedicated her award to the people of Venezuela and to President Donald Trump, thanking him for his “decisive support” for democracy in her country.

In an Oct. 10 post on X, Machado called the honor “a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom,” presenting it as part of the ongoing push for change in Venezuela.

“We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy,” Machado wrote. “I dedicate this award to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”

Shortly after Machado posted her statement on X, Trump shared a screenshot of it on Truth Social.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the award earlier on Oct. 10, praising Macahdo for her work in Venezuela.

In a statement, the committee cited “her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela” and her “struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

In recent months, several leaders have called on the committee to present the award to Trump, though the committee’s deadline for nominations was Jan. 31, according to FOX News.
