VP Debate Highlights: Vance and Walz Clash on Abortion Rights

Abortion played a prominent role in last night’s vice presidential debate. Republican JD Vance and Democrat Tim Walz sparred over whether abortion is a federal or state issue. Minnesota Governor Walz defended a 2023 bill he signed, establishing that every person in the state has the right to an abortion. State law also permits abortion through the 9th month. Meanwhile, Vance said he and Donald Trump support fertility treatments, a practice the Church says is immoral. CEO and President of the pro-life 40 Days for Life, Shawn Carney, posted on social media last night that “JD Vance struck out on abortion in 3 games, then hit a grand slam.” Carney tells us what he meant by this. Carney discusses whether there is some daylight between President Trump and his running mate on abortion. Carney shares what he made of Walz’s remarks, his record on abortion and JD Vance’s efforts to criticize him on it. He fills us in on what he makes of the Trump-Vance support for fertility treatments.
