Pornhub future in Oklahoma unclear after ruling on Texas law
Caroline MolloyThe future is uncertain for Pornhub and other adult websites in Oklahoma in the wake of U.S. Supreme Court ruling addressing a Texas law and others like it that require adults to verify their age before accessing internet porn.
One of the world’s busiest websites, Pornhub pulled the plug last year on offering its sexually explicit content in the Sooner State as it pressed its case that the Texas law, designed to prevent children from being exposed to online porn, would “impermissibly hinder” free speech protections of adults guaranteed by the Constitution.
The Supreme Court’s ruling, issued Friday, specifically upheld the Texas statute, but it should also apply to similar legislation passed in Oklahoma and other states.
