Mike Mazzei wins Republican gubernatorial runoff, advances to face Cyndi Munson
Caroline MolloyThe field for Oklahoma’s 2026 gubernatorial general election is set after Mike Mazzei narrowly won the Republican primary runoff.
Mazzei defeated Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond in the Aug. 25 runoff, receiving approximately 50.3 percent of the vote and winning by a little more than 2,000 votes. Drummond conceded after a closely contested election night in which the lead shifted as additional results were reported.
Mazzei, a businessman and former state senator, now advances to the Nov. 3 general election, where he will face Democratic nominee and Oklahoma House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson.
Munson secured the Democratic nomination during Oklahoma’s June primary. The general-election ballot also includes independent candidates.
Following his runoff victory, Mazzei said his campaign would focus on issues including economic growth, education and taxes as he turns his attention toward the November election.
