German state records more than 350 forced child marriages, most linked to Muslim immigration
New data from Germany has revealed that more than 350 forced child marriages have taken place in the state of Baden-Württemberg since 2015, almost all linked to mass immigration from majority-Muslim countries. Statistics released last month by the Baden-Württemberg state Ministry of the Interior confirm that 358 child marriages have been recorded in the state. Only eight have been formally annulled.
Politicians Nikolaos Boutakoglou and Emely Knorr of the Alternative for Germany (Alternative für Deutschland or AfD) party filed a request for information from the state, forcing the publication of the records.
“Almost every single child marriage in Baden-Württemberg since 2017 can be traced back to mass migration!” Boutakoglou, a state legislator, said in an X post analyzing the data. “Nearly 40% of child marriages were contracted between Syrians, while child marriages between two Germans account for only 0.3%!”
Overall, Syrian nationals accounted for 37.3% of forced child marriages, Bulgarian nationals for 17.4%, Turkish nationals for 10.6%, Afghan nationals for 8%, and Iraqi nationals for 4.9%.
The annulled marriages include a marriage between a 30-year-old Afghan man and a 14-year-old Afghan girl, a marriage between a 24-year-old Afghan man and a 15-year-old Afghan girl, a marriage between a 25-year-old Pakistani man and a 16-year-old German girl, and a marriage between a 17-year-old Iraqi male and an 11-year-old Iraqi girl.
